The DUSU Election 2024 is set to take place on September 27, as per the latest notification from Delhi University. The results will be declared on September 28 after counting the votes. This year’s election is significant, with the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) office bearers to be elected through these polls.
Key Dates for DUSU Election 2024
- Nomination Filing Deadline: September 17
- Withdrawal of Nominations: September 18 (up to 12 noon)
- Final List of Candidates: September 18 (by 5 pm)
- Voting for Day Classes: September 27 (8:30 am to 1:00 pm)
- Voting for Evening Classes: September 27 (3:00 pm to 7:30 pm)
Nomination Process
- For DUSU Central Panel: Nomination papers must be submitted at the office of Chief Election Officer Satyapal Singh in North Campus between 10 am to 5 pm.
- For Central Council Elections: Nominations are to be submitted with the respective college and department heads.
The nomination papers for the DUSU Election 2024 must be submitted by September 17, with scrutiny taking place the same day. After the withdrawal deadline, the final list of candidates will be released on September 18.

Election Committees and Monitoring
Delhi University has established a three-member committee to oversee the DUSU Election 2024. The committee includes:
- Prof Satyapal Singh (Department of Sanskrit) as Chief Election Officer
- Professor Raj Kishore Sharma (Department of Chemistry) as Chief Returning Officer
- Dr Rajesh Singh (University Librarian) as Returning Officer
This committee is responsible for ensuring a free and fair election process.
Election Structure and Previous Results
The DUSU Election 2024 will fill four central posts: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. These elections are conducted by the central committee, while each college conducts elections for the same positions at the college level. The central committee monitors these college elections to maintain fairness.
Last year, the ABVP (RSS-affiliated student wing) secured three central panel posts, including the President’s post, while NSUI (Congress’ student wing) won the Vice President’s position. This year’s election is anticipated to be competitive, with student groups gearing up for the polls after a three-year gap due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Voting Schedule and Publication of Results
The DUSU Election 2024 will have separate voting timings for day and evening classes. Day classes will vote between 8:30 am and 1:00 pm, while evening classes will vote between 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The votes will be counted on September 28, and the results will be declared the same day.
