University of Delhi College Principals on Monday held an online meeting to discuss the possibilities of reopening the DU colleges. As per the reports, the DU administration is thinking of possibilities for calling the final year students from 1st February.
In view of the SOP’s and guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission on 5th November, Delhi University consulted with the DU colleges to call the final year students for experimental examination in a phased manner. Under this, the DU college principals were asked to formulate a committee of four teachers and two employees who will work towards the possibility of conducting the practicals smoothly.
However, several Delhi University College Principals also expressed their concerns in the meeting. Prof. Rajeev Gupta, the Dean of DU Students Welfare said that keeping in mind the SOP’s issued by the UGC, a meeting was conducted with the DU college principals in which the Dean of colleges, DU Vice-Chancellor, and DU Students Welfare was also present. In the meeting held between the DU officials, the final year students of DU are being considered to be called for the practicals. Soon a document comprising the meeting notes and recommendations will be sent to the DU colleges and advice from DU Principals will be invited.
Delhi University Colleges can reopen from 1st February
Delhi University is considering reopening college for final year students from 1st February. A DU official stated that this is just the beginning of the meeting. The matter will be further discussed with the DU College principals as this is regarding the future of the students.
As per the reports, DU students will be tested in April but before this, the University is considering the possibility of reopening the colleges from 1st February for third-year students. Furthermore, where the practical for final year students were 20, those will be reduced to 5 to start the offline academics.
