The University of Delhi is planning to set up Delhi University Community Radio (DUCR) once again. Earlier, its service was discontinued for several reasons. However, the varsity intends to make it functional one more time.

There was a time when DU Community Radio was a popular forum. DU aspirants used it to clear their admission-related queries and more. The agenda of reviving the DUCR announcement was done in the centenary year notification of 7 June. Moreover, in the centenary year, many other initiatives and projects were announced.

According to a senior University official Delhi University Community Radio was a popular forum for both DU aspirants and students. Though, for a few years, it has been non-functional. While other initiatives were announced by the university, the reviving DUCR is also part of their project. As a result, a committee has been formed. Following this, the committee will plan and work towards its implementation.

History of Delhi University Community Radio

The university community radio station establishment was in 2007. The objective was to broadcast student-oriented programs. Later, in 2008 university decided to provide admission-related information via radio and live phone-in programs.

Initially, broadcasting was done by experts and professionals. Gradually, students started managing it. With time, the community radio came across the problem of staff shortage. Consequently, it became non-functional. As per the officials, now the problems will be analysed and resolved. And, the community radio will become functional after it.
