The officiating principal of Delhi University’s Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC), Rajiv Chopra, was suspended from the post of principal and repatriated out of a sudden move by the University of Delhi on the night of Saturday.  Mr. Chopra, who completed six-month tenure, has now been removed from the post of principal of the college. He has been serving the college for the last six and a half years. He said that the move was completely unbelievable with the university issuing the order on late Sunday night through a letter to the university representative Naveen Kumar. It also contended that Mr. Chopra, the principal of Delhi College of arts and commerce had completed almost more than six years, having been appointed in October 2013. He was the director of the Aurobindo College. The college’s governing body rejected the selection of, Mr. Chopra, principal of Delhi College of Arts And Commerce said, adding that he took the university to court over the matter alleging that the new selection committee was acting illegally and outside of UGC guidelines.

He has been serving the college for the last six and a half years. He said that the move was completely unbelievable with the university issuing the order on late Sunday night through a letter to the university representative Naveen Kumar. The university’s Deputy Registrar in a letter writes that an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) is ordinarily appointed for a period, not more than six months to act as the principal of a college. It also contended that Mr. Chopra, the principal of Delhi College of arts and commerce had completed almost more than six years, having been appointed in October 2013. He was the director of the Aurobindo College. Mr. Chopra questioned the motive behind the action, arguing that if the six-month rule was being applied to him, it must be applied to officiating principals of several other colleges.

Mr. Chopra called this removal as the injustice prevailed against him. He said that if this act is considered to be against the guidelines of UGC then there are more than 20 other principals who must also be removed from their post. He was saddened by the fats that university id Using unfair obligations from him just to betray him and remove him from the post of principal.

He has served the Delhi College of and Art and Commerce selflessly throughout the period of six years.
