The University of Delhi has launched a student portal where the student can fill the examination form online. Consequently, all Regular and Ex-students can fill their tentative examination form through this portal from their home of all UG and PG courses.
Several students reported glitches in the system raising questions over the feasibility of conducting online exams.
The examination cell wrote a letter to principals and head of the department on 20th April 2020. They gave instructions to the principals and HOD’s about the online submission of examination form. They advise them to share the link of exam portal with their students as the last date of form submission are May 15.
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, lockdown is announced by our Prime Minister and hence in this pandemic, there is a little clarity about the conduction of annual examination.
There is news of DU spreading like a fire that Delhi University is deciding to conduct the semester examination online this year. The universities are waiting for directions from the University Grants Commission which has constituted a committee to look into the matter of online examinations.
According to the order of the examination cell, all the colleges have to verify the information filled by students on the examination form. One’s the verification is done, the examination form should be forwarded to the examination branch to release admit cards.
Online submission of examination form is compulsory for every DU student. Students who have already submitted forms physically in the colleges also have to fill the online form. While students who have paid the exam fee need not pay again, those who haven’t should either pay it online on the portal or at their colleges when the colleges will reopen.
Views of students regarding online submission of the examination form:
- The link is not opening on our system. Even if it opened some students were unable to fill their examination form online. Many students don’t even have smartphones with them and they are worried about how they will access the portal. If we can’t fill forms, how can we have online exams?
- It usually happens to DU that servers are down initially. So, we are waiting and expecting it gets better in the coming days. Meanwhile, there are memes disclosing on social media that a university whose exam portal isn’t working properly is thinking of conducting online exams.
- There is also an issue that some colleges have not opened a link from the college’s administrative block end.
