Delhi University Vice-Chancellor, PC Joshi has announced to hold a convocation on 27th January 2021. Hence, a “Mission 500” is taken into consideration. DU wants to make it into the top 500 universities and get a rank in the international QS rankings. Therefore, they are all set to adopt certain measures that will serve as stepping stones towards their success
Measures adopted by Delhi University:
A fundraising program will be initiated to achieve its Mission 300. Hence, DU plans to raise a fund of Rs 300 crores with the assistance of its alumni network.
Delhi University Vice-Chancellor has also started a Vidya Vistar Scheme (V2S). Hence, this scheme is an initiative to connect with all the big and small institutions of the country. Mr. Joshi is following the path shown by the former VC and continuing the V2S.
Hence, they will connect with institutions from the country’s remote areas. DU in this program will assist remote area teachers in capacity building and provide various opportunities like joint research publications by sharing resources. Therefore, all of this will promote startups and increase interaction amongst students. However, the Delhi University colleges will have a free hand in implementing the scheme. They may even invite the remote area students and teachers to work in DU laboratories, share resources, and other facilities and services.
Upgrading the facilities at DU:
Vice-Chancellor PC Joshi said that the performance of Delhi University has to be improved to secure a rank. The University has a strong research base across all institutions. Hence, they have distinctive courses like economics, arts, and even less taken ones like music and language. Therefore, DU is a complete university which only needs certain upgrades.
A committee will be formed to decide about the programs on DU’s history on the mark of its 100th year. Hence, they envision creating an encyclopedia about the varsity to glorify it.
