Delhi schools reopening started from 1st September 2021 as per DDMA guidelines. Thus, approximately a week after Delhi schools reopening, the government schools are witnessed to be much active. The Delhi government schools are buzzing and have higher attendance in every classroom. But, the private schools in Delhi are facing a poor turnout.

Schools reopened for classes 9th to 12th on September 1. Also, the coaching centers reopened in a phased manner. Thus, this decision came after 17 long months of shutdown.

Delhi Schools reopening: The attendance status

As per the principals of the Delhi government schools, the attendance is around 70-80 percent. Thus, this data was analyzed last week. On the other hand, the private school’s attendance is as low as 10 percent. Thus, Delhi schools reopening has been a clear hit for government schools but not for private ones. People blame the bad weather conditions of the city for poor attendance. Also, some fear the third wave while others blame the hybrid learning concept.

Here is what the government schools have to say:

The weather conditions were accepted to be bad on day 1 of reopening. The attendance in government schools got better as the weather conditions improved. But, no such case happened with private ones.

The principal of Bal Vidyalaya of West Delhi’s Subhash Nagar says that they have completely terminated online classes. Hence, their attendance got better to an extent that everyone started to prefer offline classes. Precisely, the attendance of class 11th and 12th is approximately 80 percent. Also, for classes 9th and 10th, the attendance is roughly 60-70 percent.

Delhi Schools reopening: private schools fear the 3rd wave

Alka Kapur, principal of Shalimar Bagh Modern Public School explains that the numbers reduced due to the available option of hybrid mode. Previously, in January the option of online classes was off the table. But, this time students are opting for the online mode where they have to study less.
