While commuting through various networks across Delhi region, this time the “DELHI METRO RAIL CORPORATION” launched free high speed wi-fi service at all Blue-Line Metro stations this Friday giving a title name as “OUI DMRC FREE WI-FI”.This facility is made available on all 50 stations starting from Dwarka sector 21 to Noida city centre/vaishali.This was inaugrated by Mangu singh,MD,DMRC at rajiv chowk metro station
With setting the download speed at 50 mbps, with this there would be no time limit for the commuters.According to DMRC official,”after doing a one-time registration through their mobile phones, commuters will be able to log into the Wi-Fi network,” said a DMRC official, adding that apart from social media apps such as Facebook and Twitter, commuters can also stream videos.Apart from this the facility will use the globally acclaimed T-Track 2.0 Wave 2 solution which is used on high-speed trains worldwide.
The tie up was done with consortium led Techno Sat Comm, which has been providing such a facility already on six metro stations of the Airport Express Line since October 2016.This Comm company also runs wi-fi on the Delhi Howrah Rajdhani Express. The ongoing project is that,DMRC will launch free wi-fi service on all operational metro stations and trains.Within 6-9 months, the same facility will be made available on all 37 stations of yellow line from Huda City Center to Samaypur Badli as well as inside trains of Airport Express line.According to the DMRC official, “This measure is a part of the ongoing innovative exercise by the DMRC… such things are now a part of normal life and is targeted at Metro users. Many Metros across the world have the same services.”
Having a word with commuters they found this initiative to be very useful and beneficial at stations where phone network is poor.
