Metro project back on track even amidst lockdown due to COVID -19. Metro project’s development work has been resumed in Delhi.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has restarted the construction work on several metro lines. Thes include Phase VI, Dwarka- Najafgarh Greyline, and Extension of airport express line.

On the basis of the guidelines issued last month by the Union Home Ministry construction work on projects was permitted as per the availability of workers on the site.

A Delhi Metro official said that DMRC has prepared a detailed standard operating procedure for resuming construction work as per Home ministry’s guidelines.

As per Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, about 3,500 workers are there in the corporation
Around 5-6 sites are there in the city:-
⦁ actual work sites of Dhansa,
⦁ expansion work on Airport Express Line in Dwarka,
⦁ sites and casting yards for Delhi Metro’s Phase IV projects

Workers are being sensitized regarding precautionary guidelines. All the guidelines set by government agencies are being implemented while resuming this construction work.

Several displays are also being set up/installed to provide information regarding social distancing at various worksites.
Workers are also being handed over sanitizers and masks. Thermal scanners are also available in these sites.
