DELHI METRO ALL SET TO AVAIL SERVICES FROM 1 JUNE: HERE’S EVERYTHING TO KNOW

Delhi Metro Railway Corporation is likely to restart its services from 1 June in a staggered way. The metro route connecting New Delhi Railway Station and Airport will open first.

After a complete shut down of metro authority in Delhi, finally, it is going to resume its services from the beginning of next month.

However, DMRC has followed the strict guidelines adhering to “social distancing” and due to this the metro journey would not be like the previous one.

There should not be either crowding in the stations nor inside the metro.

A total of 50 people will be permitted to travel in a particular coach and the metros with 8coaches will carry only 200 passengers at a time.

DMRC has devised a method so that people could travel safely in the metro during the ongoing wake of coronavirus crises.

According to the prescribed guidelines, it is mandatory for people to maintain social distancing norms. They have to keep one-meter length while traveling in the metros. The Metro Security Personnel will keep an eye on them through CCTV supervision.

Those who are sitting inside the coaches will have to keep alternative seats empty, where the DMRC has put special stickers with a message of social distancing.

Given Below are some major rules which you need to follow while traveling in Delhi Metro:-

  • Maintain social distance- All the passengers need to keep a distance of one meter from each other.
  • A seat’s gap- People need to keep the next seat vacant. Stickers are also placed on the seats to be left vacant.
  • 50 people in a coach- The travelers are not allowed to enter the coach if fifty people are inside it.
  • No physical frisking at security check- This is going to be the first time when CISF will not carry out physical frisking near the entry gate.
  • Arogya Setu app – The people need to have this application on their smartphones while traveling. However, this plan proposes that every traveler must have a smartphone. The practical execution of this would be a matter of concern.
  • Only two entry gates will be unlocked at any particular moment at a particular metro station. This set up is made to ensure people should present for the compulsory thermal screening process made by CISF security officers.
  • The Center has also asked the metro authorities all over the country to try and roll out QR code enabled ticketing with the Arogya Setu app linked so that people who marked “safe” by the application would only be allowed to travel. Till now, in Delhi Metro, only the Airport Express line has incorporated QR codes linked with the Arogya Setu app in the entry gates of the metro station.
  • The travelers are advised to carry smart cards for use. However, tokens would not be scrapped altogether.
  • The station floor would be marked with bright marks indicating social distancing norms. This would be present everywhere, on the platforms, near the entry and exit gates, near the food corner, token area, ATMs, and stationary areas.
  • The metros will halt up to 30 seconds, more than normal time so the people could keep a distance while boarding or alighting.

How DMRC made itself ready for the situation?

The metro authority has utilized the pandemic lockdown period for cleaning and overhauling the ac system of the metro coaches.

When the services finally resume, the cleaning and maintenance staff have to ensure cleaning and disinfecting workouts every four hours, wiping out frequently touched equipment such as vending machines, rail handles, lift buttons, and other areas.

DMRC faced a total loss of 600 crores

According to DMRC official, the corporation has suffered a heavy loss of 600 crores amid the pandemic lockdown. Now onwards with the reduced capacities, more losses are likely to seem.
