Delhi High Court directs the University of Delhi to remove the misleading material about DU admission eligibility criteria from the official website i.e., du.ac.in. HC has demanded immediate corrective measures in it to avoid confusion among candidates.
The court said, “Delhi University should take immediate corrective measures in putting off the wrong information regarding admission eligibility for any course/program. The information doesn’t seem similar to the information in the Bulletin of Information. Also, it is in contrast with the Statutory Rules, Regulations, and Ordinances of the University.”
Further, Justice Vikas Mahajan said such contrast in information leads to confusion in the minds of aspirants. Also, unnecessary mistakes are done by candidates due to false information.
Besides, the court noticed it while rejecting the plea of candidates who had applied for an M.Sc. Botany (2022-23). University didn’t consider her admission to the merit list but she had 88.96 in B.Sc. Honors Biological Science. Therefore, she pleaded that other candidates who had fewer marks also got admitted.

Candidates argue that DU admission eligibility criteria for M.Sc. Botany admission in the bulletin of Information 2022 provided B.Sc. (Hons.). According to it, the admission was under the merit list.
While dismissing the pleas, the court observed that the candidate did not pass the eligibility criteria because she had a degree of B.Sc. (Hons.) Biological Science. However, as per the criteria, candidates must have B.Sc. (Hons.) Botany. So, she was eligible for entrance based not merit-based.
As per the bulletin of 2022 and the past 3 years, the eligibility for M.Sc. Botany is in both the Entrance Exam Category and the Merit Admission Category. Therefore, the university should take admission under the merit category. The situation of the petitioner becomes pitiful as she cannot take advantage, or refuge because of the misleading information provided on the website.
