The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the Ministry of Railways to contemplate the feasibility of issuing confirmed tickets to Person with Disability (PWD) pupils at subsidized rates. This will help the specially-abled students to return to Delhi for exams.
The Delhi High court notified the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Justice to communicate the Ministry of Railway. So to make arrangements for transportation for left out PWD students from different states.
Additionally, they asked the Ministry to file an affidavit. And recorded the matter for further hearing on September 1. Meanwhile, the Delhi University has recommended holding the second round of examination through physical as well as email method.
The court directed Delhi University to add a section in the notice for the second session of examination. It should inform disable students about the alternative to take the exam physically or online mode with the help of scribes. The disabled students would express their intention by September 4, the court said.
Rungta raised an on DU submission. It asserted that they do not have data on PWD learners. And inquired why are they shying away from communicating the data of visually impaired students.
Advocate Rungta told the court that he just got the statement filed by DU where it has proposed both, remote and physical modes. However, DU has implied that they will not give any assistance to the disabled students.
Appearing on behalf of Delhi University, senior advocate Sachin Dutta informed the court. 647 students with physical disabilities have successfully submitted paper via the portal and there is email data right now which is in the operation of compiling.
