On Tuesday, the Delhi Government released a grant aid to 6 of the Delhi University Colleges which are fully funded by it for the salaries to be paid. Although there are 6 colleges remaining which are also funded by Delhi Government, they are yet to receive the funds.
As per the sources in the Delhi Government following are the colleges which have received the funds from the Delhi Government with respective amounts:
Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Sciences, (4 crore)
Acharya Narendra Dev College, (Rs 6.8 crore)
Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women (SRCASW), (Rs 4.65 crore)
Maharaja Agrasen College, (5.8 crore)
B R Ambedkar College, (Rs 6.35 crore)
Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences received (Rs 4.5 crore)
However, the following colleges did not get any funds as of till now:
Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies,
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College,
Bhagini Nivedita College,
Aditi Mahavidyalaya and
Maharishi Valmiki College of Education
Rajib Ray, the president of the DU Teachers’ Association, said that the fund which was allocated was not sufficient to cover all the expenses of these colleges but also stated that they are hopeful that the Delhi Government will at least transfer these funds immediately to the colleges. He further added that the other 6 colleges will still have to wait for the funds to be sanctioned. He also mentioned reminding the government these divisive policies will not work with them.
Pankaj Garg, former Academic Council member, alleged that the government is following a policy of divide-and-rule and also that the government is harassing the teachers of the rest six colleges necessarily. He also added that they sanction and release grants of the remaining colleges.
A Delhi Government Official shared that those 6 colleges had only co-operated on the issue regarding the accounts audit and funds hence the funds for salaries were released.
