Delhi University

The tussle between the Delhi Government and the 12 government-funded Delhi University colleges is getting bigger. This issue has arisen over the non-disbursal of grants to the 12 colleges, who in return are unable to pay their teachers. Hence, the Directorate of Training and Technical Education has written to the DU VC seeking some disciplinary action against the principals of these 12 colleges.

Here is what the letter by the Delhi government says:

The letter was sent to Delhi University VC, Yogesh Singh. Hence, it read that the grant is released in four installments based on the utilization certificates provided by colleges. Also, the letter said that the principals are inciting teachers and staff, creating a hostile educational environment. Hence, the government believes that the principals of these 12 colleges should rather focus on managing accounts, and adhere to the conditions of pattern of assistance.

Also, the letter strictly stated that these college principals have been leading adverse critical and embarrassing chants. Hence, the VC is requested by the government to take suitable disciplinary action against those principals under applicable rules.

How will the VC act on the letter by the Delhi Government:

Yogesh Singh said that if there is any substance in the statement, they will act immediately. Also, a response from the concerned principals is sought.  Hence, he will wait for their response.

Problems faced by the teachers of these Delhi government-funded colleges:

Several Teachers’ bodies including DUTA are constantly protesting against the delay in the release of grants by the Delhi government.
