DELHI GOVT’S SCHOOLS ARE EXPECTED TO BE OPERATIONAL BY 2021: MANISH SISODIA

Delhiā€™s own school education (Delhi education board) is anticipated to be functional by 2021. However, the ideology will not be imposed on schools run by the government, said Manish Sisodia (Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi).

Sisodia while giving details on future policies for setting up of education board in Delhi said that the education board is as per new education policy (NEP). Further, he included that the primary focus will be on constant assessment and not on yearly exams.

Manish Sisodia in an interview said that two committees have been set up and are currently working on the curriculum reforms and proposed board. If the situation seems favorable, the board will come into operation by next year. Around 40 schools will be affiliated to the Delhi board at the initial stage which will include both private and government boards.

No compulsion on schools to follow Delhi Education Board

Generally, private schools are considered free to choose any board either CBSE, ICSE, or other state boards while government schools are obliged to follow state board. But, there will be no compulsion on opting out the board. Both government and private schools in Delhi will be free to opt Delhi education board or any other board. He added that they are working on making the Delhi board so useful and enriching so that the demand for it arises automatically.

The government if Delhi constituted two committees last month to formulate a framework and scheme for the formulation of Delhi education board and other curriculum reforms.

In March the AAP government disclosed the proposal for setting up distinct education Delhi education board for the national capital. Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia said that the Delhi government is studying and reviewing new education policy.

During the interview, he said that they are doing a detailed study of NEP and are further working on various reforms formulated in it. He added that there are few abnormalities but the good things are there too. He has told the constituted committees that the Delhi board will be following NEP because Delhi is the part of the nation. However, the emphasis will be on encouraging the rotation learning process and nig the evaluation on a yearly basis.
