The University of Delhi provides mark sheets to it’s graduated students usually after three years. However, Delhi University’s pass out students who completed their graduation in 2017 are still not provided with their mark sheets. A pass out student of 2014 batch has filed a petition in the Delhi High court against Delhi University’s functioning. The court when asked the University the reason for the delay the University furnished a shocking response.

The Delhi University in it’s reply stated that the University has fallen short of the quality paper for printing the mark sheets. It further stated that the printing contract with the company have been expired. Also, due to the lockdown and coronavirus situation, the University is unable to pass the tender for the new contract. This is the major reason behind the delay in the mark sheets of pass out students.

Another student of Delhi University further filed a petition saying the degree provided by the University. But the degree does not include the University’s watermark and security feature. Such degrees without watermark and security feature are considered void in the international universities and institutes. High Court has implored DU’s lawyer Mohinder that if a student faces hardship due to the handwritten degree, the University will stand accountable for it and further take responsibility.

Another pass out student of Delhi University stated that the DU provided the digital mark sheet to its students in 2018. The Kings College London and various other Universities enrolled the students. But did not allow them to continue their study due to the non-availability of original degrees.

The court has further demanded Delhi University to inform students with an ultimate date by which they will receive their degrees. The HC has further asked Delhi University to provide a helpline number to address the queries of pass out students. Also, the University has been asked to formulate a system to pass out students. The system should furnish information related to the convocation ceremony and degrees. The students should be informed about when they will receive their mark sheets.
