Revised Tie-Breaker Rules
This year, Delhi University has revised its tie-breaker rules for generating ranks. These rules come into play when two or more candidates have the same merit score in the UG 1st Allocation List.
Tie-Breaker Criteria
- The highest percentage in the three best subjects of Class XII.
- The highest percentage in the best four subjects of Class XII.
- The highest percentage in the best five subjects of Class XII.
- Earlier date of birth as per the Class X certificate.
- Alphabetical order of the candidate’s name.
These tie-breaking rules have been particularly important this year. It is due to the National Testing Agency (NTA) releasing raw scores instead of normalized scores. The university applied these rules to determine allocations in the event of students having the same scores.
Extra Allocations and Dashboard Feature
To ensure all seats are filled optimally, Delhi University has decided to conduct extra allocations in the first round. This measure aims to avoid any vacant seats and ensure a smooth start to the academic session.
The university has also introduced a new feature on the candidate dashboard. This allows each candidate to view details of the cutoffs and ranks that determined their allocation. This transparency will help candidates understand their position in the UG 1st Allocation List.
Dashboard Insights
- Common Rank
- Cut-off Rank
- Programme-Specific CUET Score
- Cutoff Score
It’s important to note that candidates with the same programme-specific CUET scores may have different ranks. The common rank is determined by applying the tie-breaking rules, and ranks are not generated for performance-based programs like B.A. (Hons) Music, B.Sc, or certain supernumerary quotas (Sports, ECA, CW, and Ward).
Broad Overview of the Admission Process
This year, Delhi University will admit students across 69 colleges, departments, and centres. There are approximately 71,600 seats available, excluding supernumerary quotas. Admissions are based on 1,559 program and college combinations.
Out of 2,45,287 candidates who applied for Phase-I of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG), 1,85,543 completed Phase-II by submitting their preferences. The UG 1st Allocation List was generated based on these submissions.
Key Points to Remember
- Acceptance and Fee Submission: Candidates must complete the acceptance and fee submission process within the given deadlines to secure their seats.
- Upgrade Option: Only those who pay the fees will be eligible for an upgrade in future rounds.
- Revised Rules: The revised tie-breaker rules and the new dashboard feature ensure a transparent and fair allocation process.
