Delhi University Kirori Mal College launches an online certificate course on disability research. Moreover, a program named “An Introduction to Disability Research: A Legal & Social Studies Perspective” has been introduced in association with the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People or NCPEDP.
The course on disability research is a two-credit course. And, it will be for nine weeks and three classes will be held per week. The design of courses is made with keeping the student’s regular classes in mind. Therefore, students can manage both things well.

Undergraduate or postgraduate students and research scholars from any Indian university can participate. Moreover, the KMC Center for Disability Research and Training will provide lessons in virtual mode.
The course is made to highlight the needs and concerns of disabled people in society. As a result, the world will be better and more accessible for people with a disability. Further, the college said that the program will assist the participants in understanding the intervention framework. Also in research writing and advocacy mechanisms with a focus on persons with disability.
Prof Shiv Kumar Kaushik, Vice Principal of Kirori Mal College has inaugurated the beginning of this course. Further, in the virtual orientation session, he said, “This program is part of our efforts toward commencing disability studies. And, to popularise it among the youth and society. This will result in long-term sensitization towards persons with disabilities.”
Besides KMC Vice-Principal, Arman Ali, Executive Director at NCPEDP followed the inaugural address. He informed, “The people who are worst hit by pandemic are persons with disabilities. Therefore, their problems and issues need to be brought out in front of society. To lead empowerment among them rather than the following charity.”
