This time during the Corona period, the convocation of Delhi University is in doubt. Preparations have not yet started this time for the convocation to be held in November every year.
This time the 97th convocation is to be held in DU. However, no buzz is being heard in the university administration regarding the event. Earlier every year from the last week of October, teams of academic and non-academic staff of the university used to work in preparation for the ceremony.
But, this time the VC Prof. Since Tyagi’s suspension, no team has been formed so far to oversee it.
The committee has not been formed yet
In the convocation, university topper students of various disciplines are awarded gold medals and degrees to researchers doing Ph.D.
According to Professor Hansraj Suman, in-charge of Aam Aadmi Party’s teacher organization Delhi Teachers Association, a committee is constituted before the convocation. In this, a committee is formed for stage committee, degree committee, catering committee, guest committee, alumni, etc.
He says that due to the lack of appointment and promotion of teachers in the university for a long time, there was deep dissatisfaction among the teachers.
Therefore, the Acting Vice-Chancellor has given priority to this and has started the process of promotion in colleges and permanent appointments in departments. Due to all these reasons, the DU administration did not pay attention to the ceremony this year.
He says this is the first time the convocation is being delayed. No information has been received regarding the Ph.D. degree so far.
Demand for the quick formation
Pro. Hansraj Suman said that giving information to the researchers to whom the degree is to be given, after the information, rehearsal for taking the degree twice.

Professor Suman has demanded from the Acting Vice-Chancellor that a committee should be constituted soon for the 97th convocation and the convocation of Delhi University should be celebrated in December. So that this year’s topper and Ph.D. researchers can get the degree.
