DU admission 2018: Open Days likely to see more footfall after CBSE Class 12 result
Class 12 students who are planning to apply to Delhi University can head to north campus on Monday to get information about various courses, admission criteria and process for undergraduate courses.
The university’s ‘Open Days’, where officials address queries of applicants had started from May 21 and will be held for two days this week — Monday and Tuesday. The sessions will be held in two shifts from 10 am to 11.30am and noon to 1.30 pm.
Colleges will also start holding ‘Open Days’ at their level with Hans Raj college holding a session on May 31 and Rajdhani college holding it on June 3.
“Now that Class 12 results have been announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), more students are expected to attend the sessions as they know their marks and can ask specific questions,” said a Delhi University official.
The online registration for admission to merit-based and entrance-based undergraduate courses began on May 15 and over 2,00,000 applicants have already registered with the university. The last date to fill the registration form is June 7. The first cutoff will be announced on June 19 and admissions under it will happen from June 19 to June 21. This year the university is likely to announce only five cutoffs and conduct a centralised counselling for the remaining seats.
DU cutoffs this year are likely to increase by 0.25 to 1 percentage points across streams with more students scoring 95% and above in the CBSE Class 12 results that were announced on Saturday. This year 12,737 students have scored 95% and above marks, which is 2,646 more from last year’s 10,138. The number of students scoring 90% and above is 72,599 which is an increase of almost 19,000 from last year, as per the information shared by the board.
The CBSE result has a direct impact on the DU cutoffs as at least 80% of the applications received by the university is from CBSE students and the rest are from various state boards, a top DU official said.
In Delhi alone, 2,237 students have scored 95% and above marks and 12,707 have scored 90% and above marks.
