CBSE board has canceled its examinations for class 10 and class 12 board students in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. An assessment scheme has been devised by the Central Board of Secondary Education for the assessment process. Yesterday only Supreme Court had asked the Board to specify an offer a bit more clarity on the options they have given to class 12 board students in context to choosing between internal assessment marks or taking the exams on a later date. All the exams that were scheduled between July 1 and July 15 have been canceled.
ICSE board has also devised similar plans but there is a different scheme for class 10 optional exams.
CBSE EXAMS CANCELED: RESULTS TO BE DECLARED BY JULY 15
As per the CBSE, the results will be declared by July 15 so that the candidates will be able to apply and seek admissions in higher education institutions within the country and even abroad.
MARKING SCHEME FOR THOSE WHO APPEARED IN FEW EXAMS
The proposed CBSE assessment scheme read that for those students who have completed all their examinations, the results will be declared on their performance in the examinations and for those who have appeared in more than three subjects, the average of the marks obtained in the best three performing subjects will be awarded in the subjects whose examinations have not been conducted.
And about those students who have appeared in only three subjects for the examination, the average of the marks obtained in the best two performing subjects will be awarded in the subjects whose examinations have not been conducted.
CBSE 10TH EXAMS NOT TO BE HELD,12TH EXAM MADE OPTIONAL: CBSE TO SUPREME COURT
The scheme further read that there are very few students of class 12, that too mainly from Delhi, who appeared for examinations in only one or two subjects. For such students, the results will be declared on the basis of their performance in the subjects for which they have appeared and according to their performance in internal/practical/project assessment.
SCOPE FOR IMPROVEMENT
These students will also be allowed to take the optional examinations in order to improve their performance if they wish too. These will be conducted CBSE soon. These results will also be declared along with the other results.
The supreme court, on Friday, refused to fix a deadline for class 12 students to decide if they want to appear for the optional exams or not. There is a probability that CBSE might even decide to not conduct these optional examinations if the situation does not ease to normal.
CBSE EXAMS CANCELED: RESULTS TO BE DECLARED BY JULY 15
Since the marking criteria for CBSE and for the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination is different, the CISCE (ICSE BOARD) may consider conducting optional exams even for Class X students.
For CBSE board students, the choice to appear for the optional exams will be given to only class 12 students as the class 10 examinations have been canceled. These optional examinations will be conducted if and when situations are conducive.
