On Thursday, the Supreme Court dismissed the petitions seeking cancellation of the CBSE compartment exam. A few students had filed the petition requesting the cancellation of the exams. The top court said that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) can be challenged by the students on compartment exams. The compartment exams are conducted for those students who have failed in one of the five main subjects.
The Supreme Court was told by the petitioners that the CBSE compartment exam must be canceled keeping in view the COVID-19 situation in the country. Advocate Shakti Pandey, during the hearing, said that in case the CBSE is not able to cancel the exams, it should release the exam dates.
Earlier, the CBSE Board had announced that the CBSE compartment exam of both Class 10 and 12 will be conducted in the month of September. The exact dates of the compartment examinations have not been announced yet. On the official website, the online application window for Class 10 and 12 CBSE compartment exams is active. For Class 12, the CBSE said that the regular candidates who appeared in February/March through CBSE-affiliated schools and are declared as Compartment are eligible to apply only in one subject which was placed in Compartment.

The CBSE also added that for the students of Class 10, the regular candidates who had appeared in February/March 2020 through CBSE-affiliated schools and have been declared as Compartment are eligible to apply in or two subjects which were placed in Compartment.

For the schools in India, the normal fee to be remitted per subject is Rs 300. But for the schools outside of India, Rs 2,000 per paper has to be submitted.
