CBSE has announced the optional exams for class 12th.  The exams will be conducted in the month of September. Candidates who want to improve the marks can go for the optional exam.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has proposed the idea of conducting online exams for class 12 students. Appearing for this exam, the students can boost up their marks.

CBSE released a press statement.  The statement reads Optional exams will be conducted in September 2020, along with the Compartment Exams. Also, the dates will be announced soon. However, the dates are not yet confirmed. 

A consolidated Marksheet will be provided to the appearing students. Due to this alternative, students have a second chance to renew their previous performance.

CBSE said a private candidate desirous to enhance his/her class 12th performance, for the examination proposed to be held in September 2020 shall apply. Additionally, they have provided the link-

Candidates whose results are out. Their results were based on the assessment scheme in the subjects for which examination was scheduled from 1st July to 15th July.  Candidates not satisfied with marks can go for the exams proposed in September.

How to apply for an optional exam

  •  Firstly, enter your Roll No., School No., Centre No. as mentioned in the admit card.
  • Secondly, Enter your address and select the subject(Class XII only)
  • Thirdly, Submit the application and note down “Application ID”. IV. Upload your current Colour Photograph (max size 50 KB; JPG) and Signature (max size 4 KB; JPG)

However, the number of candidates achieving 90+ has increased from last year.

The number of students scoring around 95 percent in class 12 exam this year is more than double the 2019 figure of 17,693, the CBSE said. This year, COVID 19 hindered the board examinations. Certainly, the figure more than doubled, with 38,686 students marking above 95 percent.

Similarly, the number of students who scored above 90 percent also increased from about 94,000 students in 2019 to almost 1.6 lakh this year, it said

Also, the overall past percentage is higher than in the previous year. Last year, the passing percentage was 80.40%. While this year, it is 88.78%. There is a sharp rise of 5.38 points this year.

Girls’ passing percentage is more than boys. Girls outshone them nearly 6%  points in class 12.
