The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore, on Tuesday released a notification regarding some changes in the Common Admission Test (CAT), which are very important for a CAT 2020 aspirant.

The media release by IIM Indore includes not only an extension of the last date of registration for CAT 2020 but also a change in the paper pattern.

The CAT is performed every year by one of the IIMs on a rotational basis. Any aspirant who wants to pursue an MBA degree from the premier business schools in India can give the CAT paper.

If the candidate clears the cut-off criteria of a particular IIM, he/she needs to take part in the further processes, which include the Group Discussion (GD), Written Ability Test (WAT), and the Personal Interview (PI).

CAT 2020, which is going to be held on 29 November 2020 across 156 cities in India, will now be of 2 hours. The stipulated time for all the three-section will be 40 minutes each, after which the software will directly switch over to the next section. The three sections of the CAT paper are-

• Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
• Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
• Quantitative Ability

However, until last year the CAT paper was of 3 hours, i.e., 1 hour each for all the three sections. But IIM Indore, which is the conducting body of CAT this year, yesterday notified that the paper would be of 2 hours this year instead of 3 hours.

Further, this year the paper will be conducted in 3 slots all over India instead of the two slots in which the exam used to be held until last year.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

The CAT registration deadline has also been extended until 5 PM on 23 September 2020, while the deadline earlier was 5 PM on 16 September 2020.

The registration for CAT had begun on 5 August, and any candidate securing at least 50% in graduation as well as the final year graduation students can register for the paper at www.iimcat.ac.in.
