IIM witnessed a 5 percent drop-down in CAT 2020 applicants. A total number of 2.30 to 2.41 lakh students appear for Common Admission Test, CAT. Students who want to pursue MBA undergo CAT to get admission into IIMs and other top management institutions.

This year in 2020, it happened for the first time that that entrance test saw a drop of 5 percent. Post-COVID 19 pandemic effect and continuous increase in the rate of unemployment and job losses globally is the main reason behind this dropdown.

2.3 LAKH STUDENTS REGISTERED FOR CAT 2020

This year for CAT, candidates got an extension period of 1 week to fill the registration form. Still, only 2.3 lakh students registered for the admission test. The administration got the lowest number of registrations this year after 2015.

WHY STUDENTS DID NOT APPEAR FOR CAT 2020?

An IIM Ahmedabad faculty member said that COVID 19 affected the GDP of countries. That is why the job scenario in 2020 is gradually decreasing. So, this can be the main reason why students did not appear for CAT 2020.

JEE WITNESSED A DROP-DOWN ALONG WITH CAT 

The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economic(CMIE) released a report. According to the report, India lost one-third of white-collar jobs between May and August. Not only CAT felt this drop-down of the exam, JEE 2020 that is for engineering witnessed a 25 percent drop-down.

IIM INDORE WILL CONDUCT CAT THIS YEAR 

There are 20 IIMs in the country that offers a total number of 5,000 seats for MBA to the students. For CAT, IIM Indore is responsible for conducting the exam on November 29 in 55 cities. For an MBA course, IIM charges around 23 lakh from the students that they can get through education load. So, they can pay the loan after getting the job.
