From the next academic session, BHU will begin teaching engineering courses in the Hindi language. Moreover, BHU has become the pioneer in India to start this course in Hindi.

The UP Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath decides to commence an engineering course in Hindi. Consequently, it will result in the removal of the language barrier. This initiative will encourage the youth of technical aspirants.

A government spokesman said, ” In the beginning, Hindi option will be for the first year B-Tech students only, but will increase to other levels gradually.”

Moreover, the teachers and experts who can teach engineering courses in Hindi are analyzed. Also, if the requirement increases, professionals will be called from outside.

ENGINEERING COURSES IN HINDI INTRODUCED UNDER NEP

In 2020, the central government announced to initiate engineering in Hindi under NEP at the IIT. However, due to covid-19, the proposal goes on delay, accordingly, Banaras Hindu University will execute it from the next academic session. As a result, the University is actively arranging books for next year’s students.

The Director of IIT BHU and Chairman of Official Language Committee, Prof P.K Jain confirms the beginning of engineering in Hindi. Further, he stated that adding the mother tongue in engineering courses is under the New Education Policy (NEP). The provision is to establish Hindi as the medium of teaching.

Thereafter, he said that for the expansion of technical studies among the youth, the increase of teaching and learning in a regional language is essential. Students come from across the country, so it will increase the scope for them.
