The Association of Delhi demands from the government of India to declare this academic year as zero.
As the whole nation is suffering from coronavirus pandemic, the nation was under lockdown for a few days. All the offices, as well as educational institutions, are temporarily closed. The government is planning to reopen the school in the month of July. The cases of coronavirus are increasing at a high rate in Delhi. On the other hand, the government is arranging for the reopening of schools. It is rising the concern of parents and teachers. According to the Association of Delhi, this academic year should be considered as zero.
DELHI CM IS SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF CORONAVIRUS
As the government has announced that cases would increase in Delhi, then what is the point to think about the reopening of schools? The General Secretary of Government School Association teacher raised his concerns about students and teacher’s safety. He said that the government should think about the reopening of schools. The Chief Minister of Delhi is himself showing symptoms of coronavirus. So it is difficult to get decide about the future conditions when the school would reopen.
The Secretary said that more than 100 teachers are infected with corona and four delhites even lost their lives. So, unless this condition improves, the government must not think of reopening of schools. Most of the parents are demanding are schools should not reopen at a moment and the government should academic year as zero.
PARENTS ARE WORRIED ABOUT THEIR CHILD
Father of class 12th is really worried about his child when he came to know that school is about to reopen. He says who would take the guarantee that his child would not get infected by COVID-19 when he’ll go to school. Rohit says that he is worried about his daughter. He also asked about the arrangement that will be made for the prevention of such infectious diseases.
He said, “ when I see the record of new figures in Delhi every day, I am worried about my girl, no matter what the government decides. So declare one year as zero period. There is nothing bigger than life.”
BOARD EXAM IS THE ONLY EXCEPTION WITH PRECAUTIONS
Similarly, Kunal Nischal lives in Noida and he is worried about his child. His child studies in primary school in Delhi. He said that even if the government decides about the reopening of schools, he will not send his a child until the current situation improves. Children and elders are most vulnerable. So, schools should not reopen at least now. Children’s education is being affected. But nothing is bigger than life. Aparajita is the president of Delhi’s Parents Association.
She said that sending school to children in the current situation is like sending them on a suicide mission. No school should reopen in this present situation. However, board exams is the only exception with precautions.
GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS AS ISOLATION CENTRES
There are many teachers who were indulged in distributing ration in schools and some of them tested positive of coronavirus. In fact, many parents protested at a government school in RK Puram where the school had been turned into an isolation center. The cases of coronavirus is increasing day by day in Delhi. Therefore, schools have been converted into isolation centers. Delhi Government Schools are used as shelter homes.
