Arvind Kejriwal

The reopening of schools in the national capital was ruled out by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for now. Arvind Kejriwal told reporters on the sidelines of an event that the schools are not reopening for now.

Earlier, the government had announced that schools will remain closed till October 31 in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

Since March 16, universities and schools are closed across the country. The Central government had announced a countrywide classroom shutdown as part of the measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Educational institutions continue to remain closed while several restrictions have been eased in different phases of “unlock.” States can take a call about reopening schools in phases, as per the guidelines of the “unlock” phase.

On a voluntary basis, the schools were earlier allowed to call students from class 9 to 12 from September 21. The Delhi government has, however, decided against it.
