Animation: An Offbeat Career Option

The animation industry in India is growing at a pace faster than any other career opportunity. The animation is a field that provides you with millions of opportunities, at times with the clients you dream to work with.

One can take animation career in graphics and multimedia courses either as a full-time or part-time student. Several programs are offered like certificates, diplomas, and degrees etc. Admission to full-time courses, i.e. diplomas and degrees etc is done through entrance exams and admission into part time and short term courses can be done of first come first serve basis.

The animation is creating illusions. Working around motions and designing images through imagination is all about animation. Apart from the skills and imagination, there are different kinds of techniques that are needed to be learned in order to get a sharper hand in animation. Stop motion, mechanical and traditional techniques are important ones for an animator to know.

There are a number of top animation schools in all major cities and towns of India that provides training in animation, graphics and multimedia. Many institutes also provide internship and arrange for job placement during or after completion of the course.

The animation industry has matured in and has moved on from being just an outsourcing facility to a creator of indigenous intellectual property as well. There are more than 300 animation studios in India, which are estimated to have employed more than 15,000 animation professionals.

There are a number of opportunities like graphic designer, game developer, 3D modeler, key frame animators, multimedia developer, layout artists, etc in different sectors. However, the sector, that calls out to animators the most are advertising, online and print media, cartoon production, theater, film and television, education and video gaming. However, with the growth in the industry there are new aspects of career to choose. Art director, stop motion animator, 3D Modeler, flash animator, compositing artist, story board artist, mathematical modeler, mathematical modeler, forensic animator, render wrangler, texture artist, are some of the new options coming up in the field of animation.

Although, there are many options of institutes available in the capital, AAFT- School of Animation is one of the best to choose from. They provide a curriculum where students do not just work with the techniques but also learn how to give shape to their creativity and imagination.
