AN EDUCATIONAL FIRM INITIATES INDIA’S FIRST ONLINE DEGREE PROGRAM, COLLABS WITH OP JINDAL UNIVERSITY AND JAMIA HAMDARD

Just after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared that the top 100 universities in India would be authorized to offer online programs, and online education firm upgrade has confirmed a slew of the e-degree programs over a blended scheme.
With Jamia Hamdard University, the upgrade will be giving online-offline blended BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) degrees to school pass-outs as well as MBA and MCA degree programs.
To date, fully online degrees were not accessible in India. Most programs proposed online were certificate programs or short-term monthly courses.
While the fee structure is being marked final, Mayank Kumar, co-founder & MD of the upgrade, asserted that the MCA/BBA programs will be priced at a range of Rs 40,000-50,000 per annum. Delhi based Jamia Hamdard was ranked 21st among Indian institutes as per the MHRD’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020.
It has also joined hands with OP Jindal Global University (JGU), for two Master’s programs – a one-year LL.M. in Corporate & Financial Law and a two-year MBA in Digital Finance and Banking sector. The LLM and MBA will cost between Rs 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh per annum, asserted Kumar.

Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard University, noted that online knowledge will be the ‘new normal’ for the upcoming years.
Till now, there was a hesitancy to pursue programs online because they used to generally be certificate courses. But an online degree will be regaled on par as a regular offline degree course, he added.
These programs will be mixed online courses, implying, there will be live classes, tutorial sessions as well as boot camps for communication between students.
