Admissions at DU
Source: Times Of India

UG as well as PG admissions at DU this year will be accomplished only through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). In all colleges, containing minority ones, and divisions, DU has said. This means that St Stephen’s College will not be able to perform interviews for admitting students even in the 50% secured class.

DU registrar Vikas Gupta said that for the 2023-24 academic session, the simple rule/bar for admissions at DU. Irrespective of any category, will be the CUET score. There was no primary answer from St. Stephen’s on the issue.

According to DU’s information dated December 30 in the year 2022, “The director council of the DU, at its conference held on December 8. Fixed that with the outcome from the academic session 2023-24, admissions both at the UG as well as PG grades. Including those under reserved category and minority percentage, will be brought out exclusively founded on the CUET score.”

DU PRIMARILY FADED MATTER THIS TIME

This was affirmed by Gupta, who said, “No college will be competent to create its own rules now. Even for minority-class students, CUET will be the only score.

In the last academic session, ie, 2022-23, when CUET was kept for the first time, Delhi University and St.Stephen’s College were at loggerheads over the admission procedure and stopped up in a legal fight. The college had underlined that apart from the CUET score, it would also operate interviews providing 15% weightage to students of all types. The university, on the further hand, had permitted the college to execute interviews only for the 50% reserved-category students, not for those in the general classification.

KERALA GOVERNMENT SCHEME TO SUPPORT STUDENTS TO FIND EMPLOYMENT DURING THEIR HIGHER STUDIES

According to the university, there could not be a distinct admission process for one college. The other 62 were carrying only the CUET score into a report for admission. St Stephen’s College moved Delhi high court, which headed in favor of the university. The court also supervised the college to issue a new admission prospectus and give 100% weightage to the CUET score.

The college then sanded a certain leave plea in the Supreme Court. Yet, the apex court also referred colleges to execute admission for the general category only. Based on the CUET score and disregarded the plea by St Stephen’s College for interim consolation.
