All India Students’ Association (AISA) members started a hunger strike demanding DU reopening. Delhi University did resume practical classes for PG and final year UG students from 15th September 2021. But, the physical presence of students was still an option. Also, no phased DU reopening occurred after that.

With a betterment in the whole covid-19 situation, P C Joshi, DU’s acting VC had promised a phased reopening on 1st September 2021. But, even though the situation is getting better day by day, no trace of reopening is visible.

48 hours Hunger strike by AISA members:

AISA members began their hunger strike and protest at gate number 4 of the Arts Faculty. Hence, it started with 15 students sitting on a hunger strike on Day 1 of the protest, i.e. 25th October 2021. Also, this agitation continued today as it is a 48-hour long hunger strike. This protest is a combined effort of many students organizations. It includes AISA members, the collective, Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch, Disha Pachhas, Democratic Students’ Union, and VCF.

Protests against the National Education Policy 2020 were also made. Thus, the AISA members demand an immediate reopening of Delhi University. Also, the protesters sought to set up a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor for further clarifications. The All India Students’ Association members even plan to submit a petition to Vikas Gupta, the DU registrar.

Students consider the coming up of FYUP, MEEC, NEP 2020, and other programs as anti-student. Also, one of the members said that they shall continue the strike until the DU VC comes out and guarantees DU reopening.
