AISA, Jamia Unit, came out with a statement condemning right after a week of Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, said the University was very keen on inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their centenary celebration.

VC, on 6 February 2021, shared that they had requested the Prime Minister to kindly grace the occasion and join through virtual mode as the chief guest for the centenary celebration.
AISA unit of the Jamia University, on 11 February 2021, while reacting to this issued a statement that said that they disapprove of the move to invite the PM. They also said that the varsity administration has yet again shown its anti-student and authoritarian tendencies once again by inviting the Prime Minister to the event.

The Jamia AISA unit also said that PM’s ideas cross the lines into communalism and hate speech adn that the students were unhappy, restless, and angry with the workings of the Modi-led regime.
