To reserve a seat in Delhi University is likely to become a little costlier for undergraduate aspirants as the standing committee of DU’s academic council on Thursday cleared the proposal to increase registration and cancellation fees along with the introduction of form correction charges.

The registration fee is likely to rise to Rs. 250 from Rs. 150, while, in a first, for every correction in the form Rs. 100 will be charged.

To put a check on the higher number of cancellations for ‘better’ courses/colleges, a proposal has been initiated to increase the fee by 100 per cent to Rs. 1,000.

Also the university is planning to provide a 24X7 live display of college-wise and course-wise vacant seats on its student dashboard and college websites.

In order to speed up the process, the extra-curricular and sports quotas will be restricted to 10% of the total class strength.

Women form the rural background and government schools’ aspirants may also get certain benefits.
