In the wake of the COVID-19 situation, the Delhi government has imposed a night curfew with immediate effect. The night curfew in Delhi will be in place from 10 pm to 5 am till 30 April.
Earlier, due to the rise in Covid-19 cases, the state government was pondering to impose night curfew in the national capital. A senior government official had told that a proposal for assessing night curfew is under consideration. The details involving the time of the curfew which could be from 10 pm to 5 am are being discussed.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal requested PM to lift the age criterion for getting vaccinated
Arvind Kejriwal has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting PM to relax the criteria for opening vaccination centers and lift the age criterion for getting vaccinated. He repeated that the Delhi government can vaccinate all the citizens of the city within 3 months if the mandatory permissions are permitted by the Centre.
4th wave of Covid-19 pandemic started in the national capital
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain stated that as the city is swiveling under the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the testing limit has been ramped up and micro-containment zones being arranged in areas where 2 or more cases are getting listed.
Doctors and Health experts have indicated this sudden rise in cases of people turning complacent, not obeying COVID-appropriate manner.
The Delhi government, to increase vaccination coverage has ordered that one-third of isolated sites at its hospitals run round-the-clock. It also supervised government as well as private hospitals to enhance the number of beds reserved for COVID-19 patients. The national capital reported approximately 3,500 fresh coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.
Night curfew imposed in other states
However, apart from Delhi, many other states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, and Gujarat have imposed night curfew because of the rise in Covid-19 cases.
