22 DU colleges have adopted colleges all over India from Arunachal to Andamans. Thus, a total of 29 colleges will be monitored as a part of Delhi University’s Vidya Vistar Scheme. Online training, skill development training, visit by teachers, student exchange programs, and more will be a part of this remote learning.

DU Colleges adopt institutions from rural areas:

A total of 22 DU colleges have adopted 29 institutions till now. But, these colleges have given preference to tribal area colleges and rural area colleges. Also, most of these colleges getting aid are from the northeast. Here are a few names:

  • Hansraj College adopted Government college in Yachuli Arunachal Pradesh, Govt. Post Graduate college in Chamba, and Govt. Degree college in Ladakh.
  • Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences will assist the Government college of Bondila, Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Lakshmibai College adopted DHSK College in Dibrugarh, Assam, and Patkai Christian College in Dimapur, Nagaland.
  • Daulat Ram College adopted Govt. College in Chouhtan, Rajasthan, and Govt. College, Magra Punjala, Jodhpur.

Rama Sharma, the principal of Hansraj College explained the reason for focusing on the northeast. Thus she said, “It is because of alumni like Kiren Rijiju, they chose the northeastern institutions. Several colleges from different parts of India have already been adopted under DU’s Vidya Vistar Scheme. Thus, after the launch of this scheme, we changed that to Gyan Setu, she added.

How will the DU colleges continue this remote assistance?

Rama Sharma highlighted that the online teachers’ training program has already started. Also, they recently organized an event where the Hansraj students interacted with students from other colleges. Exchange programs will also be held after the covid situation gets better.

DELHI UNIVERSITY CUT-OFF LIST TO RELEASE BY NEXT WEEK

Ramanujan College’s principal says that visits by teachers already took place in two of its adopted colleges. Also, students will be given skill courses such as data analytics, data mining, and many more. Hence, the DU colleges are trying their best to provide the best facilities in their respective adopted colleges.
