Across the country, 100 Atal Tinkering Labs will be adopted by ISRO to promote scientific temperaments among students and to encourage them for space technology-related innovations and space education. At a virtual meeting on Monday, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog and ISRO took the decision.
An official statement said that through this collaboration, the Indian Space Research Organization will facilitate mentoring and coaching of students in advanced 21st-century cutting-edge technologies including the ones related to space.
It also said that the students will not only gain theoretical but also application-based and practical knowledge of Space Education and STEM-related concepts such as physics, electronics, material sciences, space technology, and many more.
The statement further said that NITI Aayog and Atal innovation Mission have established over 7,000 Atal Tinkering Labs that has enabled more than three million students between classes 6 to 12 to acquire a tinkering, problem-solving, and innovative mindset.
It also said that the children will be actively mentored by the engineers and scientists from ISRO centers in close coordination with the Capacity Building Program Office at the headquarters of the space agency. They will also interact will teachers in the Atal Tinkering Labs for brainstorming ideas, encouraging experiments, and spreading awareness in space activities.

The students associated with these ATLs were also invited by ISRO Chairman Dr. K Sivan to witness the launch of one of its rockets from the Satish Dhawan Space Center which is a spaceport at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant expressed joy over collaborating with ISRO to make advancements in space technology via Atal Innovation Mission and its initiatives, in his address.
He said that he was glad that to nurture their future space scientists, ISRO in collaboration with their regional research centers were adopting 100 ATLs where ISRO researchers and scientists would personally mentor and guide the young innovators in the field of Space technology and STEM education.
