University of Delhi has claimed that they are reviewing the procedure of new admission for the upcoming session besides searching for alternative options to conduct exams of enrolled 9 lakh students which were due in May.

As per current scenario exams have been postponed and admissions are put on hold owing to the lockdown due to corona virus outbreak.

Writing to DU’s alumni, VC Yogesh Tyagi , “The pandemic has forced us to rethink the way we work and deliver.”

“We have not allowed these constraints to hamper our pursuit of knowledge, research, innovation and social outreach,” Tyagi claimed.

VC also informed the alumni about the online teaching – learning initiative through virtual classrooms and other digital aid.

The VC reaffirmed that the university is committed towards the welfare of students during this critical period: “Majority of our students hail from different parts of India and some from countries across the globe. We are taking care of those who continue to reside in our hostels.”

THE HELPING INITIATIVE

VC mentioned there collective efforts against the pandemic to encourage alumni to join in and contribute to the nation in the time of need.

Faculty and staff across various departments and colleges of Delhi university have contributed their one day salary amounting more than 4 crore to PM cares funds.

University has even launched a programme ‘DU Care for Neighbor’ and other social outreach efforts so that no one succumbs to hunger near and around north or south campus.

Lockdown announced on 25 March has been extended till 3 May.
